General Info

Located at 28 Chome-3-1 Minami 1 Jonishi, Chuo Ward, Sapporo, Hokkaido 064-0801, Japan, L’Auberge De L’Ill Sapporo offers a refined French restaurant experience that feels both intimate and thoughtfully composed. From the moment you arrive, the atmosphere leans quiet and upmarket, making it a comfortable choice for an unhurried lunch where conversation and cuisine take center stage. Table service is attentive without being intrusive, which adds to the sense of calm that regular reviews often highlight.

The menu is carefully curated, and each dish reflects a clear respect for ingredients and technique. One of the standout plates is the Roasted Beef with Asparagus and Truffle Source. The beef arrives tender and well-balanced, while the asparagus adds freshness and texture. The truffle sauce ties everything together with a deep, aromatic finish that lingers pleasantly. It’s the kind of dish that makes you slow down and actually enjoy each bite.

Equally memorable is the オマール海老のポワレ. This pan-seared lobster dish showcases precise cooking, allowing the natural sweetness of the lobster to shine without distraction. As part of the lunch menu, it pairs naturally with a glass of red wine, which many diners find complements the richness of the flavors without overpowering them. The wine selection feels considered, supporting the food rather than competing with it.

For something a little more rustic yet deeply satisfying, the カリフリ農園の豚肉で作った自家製ベーコンと茸のファーブルトン brings comfort and elegance together. The house-made bacon crafted from carefully sourced pork adds depth, while mushrooms contribute earthiness. This dish feels personal, almost like a quiet nod to tradition within a polished setting.

The experience often begins with a well-composed 前菜, setting the tone for what follows. Portions are balanced, presentation is clean, and nothing feels rushed. Since lunch reservations are recommended, planning ahead helps ensure a smooth visit, especially for those who value a quieter dining room.

Overall, this French restaurant stands out among local locations for its consistent menu, calm ambiance, and reliable service. Reviews frequently reflect confidence in the kitchen and appreciation for the thoughtful pacing of the meal, making it a trusted choice for anyone seeking a genuine, upscale lunch experience in Sapporo.

What customers say?

“ Beautiful for located in a historical building it provides high-quality French cuisine with Japanese touch featuring in season and fresh fish and vegetables. I came here for lunch and had the Alsace set menu. I tried there in season cocktail and a glass of Pinot Noir. Both are pretty amazing. The dishes are delicate beautifully presented, and has demonstrated in depth thought. The main meat dish is a lamb dish, but the lamb were cooked in three different ways accompanied with different vegetables and sauce. Even for simple dishes like salad they are changed in a different form and accompanied with incredible sauce. I think it's a great find and would absolutely love to come again. ”

“ Great food, cute and quaint environment that transports you to some cute French town. The ingredients were handled well, we could still taste the freshness of the ingredients even though the combination and technique is complex. ”

“ Good dining experiences. The restaurant setting really cosy and the services are top notch. Good quality of food served and good wine available for food pairing. Really good place for lunch even it was a snow freezing day. It’s also easily access via public transport (東西線), just walk straight from exit 3 of Maruenkoen Station. ”

“ I went here for a graduation party with my school. The menu consisted of mostly fish but it was very fresh, the plating was beautiful, and it was delicious (this coming from a person who’s not the biggest fan of fish). There were children as this party as well and they were given children’s plates that had loads of food that they all enjoyed very much (omelette rice, chicken strips, fried shrimp, and their very own cup of fries). The room we had was stunning and the staff was very friendly and accommodating. This restaurant is often booked more as a wedding venue and it shows. Beautiful atmosphere and delicious food. Would highly recommend. ”

“ We were surprised and impressed upon seeing this restaurant in a standalone building in the French style next to a park. The interior was elegant as befitting a high end French restaurant. The service was formal yet welcoming to visitors. The food was very competent and an amazing value. We thoroughly enjoyed the experience. ”

“ June 2023 Lunch today and it was busy. Top class service by team from moment enter door. New menu with fresh ingredients apart from imported lamb. Wide range of local n French wines. Cannot ask for more. Chef Aoki was at door to say goodbye too. Definitely better than before. 2019 This has to be most under rated French restaurant in Sapporo. Setting is first class and service. Set in old restored bungalow with lovely garden. If u are looking for french cuisine in sapporo this has to be it ”
